@1010wins923: Mayor Zohran Mamdani sent a letter and a warning Monday “to make very clear that ICE has no right to use any city property or lots for anti-immigrant operations.” It came after information emerged suggesting ICE was using city-owned lots at Van Cortland and Flushing Meadows Corona parks to launch local operations. Mamdani said city parks employees now have the authority to intervene, by asking ICE agents to leave or reporting their presence to local authorities. "And we've provided the guidance to parks workers, not only of what they should do in that situation, but also who they should call so that they're not facing this kind of a thing on their own,” the mayor said. Questions were raised as to how willing parks workers would be to do that and what the consequences could be.
