@bbcnews: Danielle was told her daughter had died but, instead of delivering the baby, the hospital sent her home and told her to ring to book a slot to give birth. Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust apologised for care it said "fell short of the standards" expected. #Pregnancy #Newcastle #Tyne #NHS #Maternity #BBCNews
All care in the RVI has been bellow standards for a long time they’ve been pulled up by the CQC almost every year and nothing changes just regresses

That is the cruelest thing I’ve ever heard, what were the hospital staff thinking?!

While this is very sad it is also the standard protocol for a still birth. The RVI is so so busy + understaffed and still births are not seen as an emergency unless the mothers life is at risk.

I was sent home after being told our baby had died, booked in 2 days later for induction. I had to carry him for 5 days before he was born.

here for the info :
The service can’t just suddenly and instantly deal with your delivery . You would have been complaining that you were rushed I would bet if the NHs did that !

Systemic failures like this add unimaginable trauma to an already devastating loss. Sending so much love and strength to her.

It’s an awful experience. On 15/12/04, I was told my baby had passed away in utero. I was sent home and I had to go back on 17/12/04 to deliver him. All the while I had a two year old who was really excited about Christmas and I had to pretend everything was fine. Horrific.

That’s awful. I had a horrendous experience with my first 24 years ago . She nearly died due to negligence and short staffing issues. If it wasn’t for the lady ( also on her own in Labour) next door to me, heard me screaming, I was numb from epidural and couldn’t reach the alarm, my daughter would have died
