As a gay person, I agree… It’s a literal symbol of soldiers who endured a foul way of life for our country. On a deeper level, I feel like the red poppy itself encompasses freedom, liberty and individuality which references the things we are changing the poppy to! It’s pointless to change the colour of the poppy we have had for years.

the poppy represents everyone and everything in relation to the horrors of war, all humans and animals that died all bleed the same colour blood. and thats what the red of the poppy represents (the blood of the brave, heroic, scared, forced and unaware that was spilled as a result of war)

We have the pride poppy for Alan Turing and many unknown Gay military and naval officers who gave their life to win the war. The pride poppy is not a representation of gay people today. It’s not for these generations but for the generations that won the war and died for their country. Yes the poppy should represent all, but our gay soldiers deserve to be recognised and respected after the fear they must’ve felt hiding their identity in fear of being castrated or imprisoned like Sir Alan Turing.
