I had to be prescribed 20% In the uk because the 15% went viral and there was a shortage 😅 thankfully my skin handled it pretty well and my melasma has lightened.

Not everyone can tolerate the higher strengths. I got 15% prescription azelaic acid but it was actually torturous to use, it irritated my skin so bad. After 2 months of going through that I went down to an over the counter 10% and my skin has felt a lot better since

I use 20% Azelaic and I cannot use Tretinoin without it. It acts as a buffer for the Tretinoin so the Tretinoin isn’t as irritating. When I try to use Tret by itself, it burns so badly

I switched over from 10% to 15%. I think starting off with the 10% helped minimize the side effects. It did work BUT it took about 9 months of strict use to see results. I saw more results in the 15% in a couple of weeks.

I’m using ordinary azelaic acid and it works just fine? It’s also recommend by some dermatologist as an affordable option. I use that and a PDM it works fine.
