And the girls and woman are awfully written and they are always tied to the male mc, she never gets her own storyline. Since watching aot (I know its not shonen), I haven't been able to really watch anime much, because I am so sick of fanservice. You can have series geared towards boys and men without girls and women being at the mercy of males, for lack of better words. They should always have their own personalities and shouldn't just always go along with whatever the male character says. - I hate when girls and women are written to just be controlled and a object solely for the fantasy of controlling her. She is made purely to be what a male wants. I haven't seen the anime, but 'rent a girlfriend?' Seriously? Men are allowed to have lower standards, so that's why a series can do really well just because it has good animation and action. An anime that is mostly girls and women characters, have to be some of the best stories ever written to even have a chance.

the reason why shonen has this privilege is because the quality of its stories & it making anime main stream in the first place. It’s catelog is literally One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball, Attack on titan, HxH, Full Metal Alchemist, Gintama, Death Note, My Hero Academia, Frieren, Yu Yu Hakusho, Jojo’s bizarre adventure, Fist of the north star, etc etc. Shonen makes AMAZING stories while shojo & seinen don’t have nearly as much they all have short little stories that usually are some commentary about life.
