I had a conversation with a barber in Jamaica that made me think deeply about my relationship with God. We started talking about the Bible, and I mentioned Jesus saying, *“It is not what goes into a person that defiles them, but what comes out of them.”* Looking back, I know I didn’t use that Scripture completely in context but it opened up something much more personal for me. I’ve been a follower of Christ for years, but I’m also human. One of the things I’ve struggled with for a long time is smoking weed. And recently, I was talking to God about it. What I felt reminded of wasn’t, “I don’t care what you do.” It was more like: **“I care about YOU.”** That distinction has really stayed with me. Because God caring about me doesn’t mean my choices don’t matter. It means my relationship with Him isn’t based on me being perfect. As I’ve grown, I’ve realised that some of the reasons I’ve smoked weren’t simply about wanting to get high. There were things from childhood, my teenage years and adulthood that I never properly dealt with. Trauma, pain and emotions I didn’t know how to process. And sometimes what we repeatedly do on the outside is connected to something we haven’t dealt with on the inside. Over the years, I’ve started facing those things instead of running from them. And slowly but surely, my struggle with smoking weed has decreased. But I’m still on the journey. I don’t share this because I have all the answers. I share it because I know I’m not the only Christian who struggles with something they feel conflicted about. So I want to ask you honestly: **Can you genuinely have a relationship with Christ while struggling with something you know you need to change?** Does the struggle itself separate us from God, or is God concerned with what’s happening in our hearts and why we’re struggling? And what do you make of the idea that **God cares about the person before He deals with the behaviour?** I genuinely want to hear your perspective even if you disagree with me. Let’s have the conversation respectfully. ❤️🙏🏾 #raw #unfiltered #christian #jesus #barber
