An archaeological survey found evidence of an Iron Age settlement on the hillside, and BPN Architects worked the shape of the roundhouse post holes into the roofline.    With cedar shingles, natural stone, a living roof and wide expanses of glass, the house seems to grow out of the landscape around it. Inside, around 5,500 sq ft is finished in walnut, terrazzo and stone. The kitchen centres on an island that seats six, with walnut cabinetry, Miele and Fisher & Paykel appliances, a cocktail area and a hidden pantry. The main living room sits a level below the hallway, with a roof light overhead and windows on all four sides.
