@rooftopsportsss: BREAKING: The Seattle Mariners have offered the qualifying offer to Randy Arozarena for the 2027 season. The offer is a one-year deal worth $23.1 million, and Arozarena is expected to reject it. If he signs with another team which is also anticipated the Mariners will receive a compensation draft pick, potentially as high as a 2nd-round selection depending on the value of his new contract. Obviously, with this current ownership group under John Stanton, I would be shocked if the Mariners even made an attempt at serious negotiations, despite Randy being the team's best offensive player in the 2026 season. The only parts of Randy I won't miss are the questions regarding his clubhouse presence and his occasional lack of hustle on defense. My main concern if they don't bring him back is the vacancy in left field, leaving an outfield mix of Julio Rodríguez, Dom Canzone, Lázaro Montes, and Luke Raley (assuming he is retained under club control). Knowing the front office may not entertain free-agent outfield options, they will likely have to get creative in the trade market. At this point, though, it's hard to trust Jerry Dipoto and Justin Hollander, especially knowing left field will probably end up patched together with incompetent "platoon" players much like how they handled third base by letting Weston Wilson rack up so many at-bats.

I think Randy might have been a cancer in the clubhouse, he can play somewhere else

Randy’s bat was great this last season, and that’s it. He minimal effort and lack of urgency in left field was infuriating. I don’t think any other option we have for left field will do any worse than that TBH
