I have had both happened to me, but not in a nursing setting. I worked with people with developmental disabilities. It is probably an out of day term and I was trying to break up a fight and somehow I got picked and when I went to the doctor because it swelled up and turned all red he said you should’ve gotten bit by a dog that would’ve been less dangerous. OK so human bites are the most dangerous bites already. The lady who spit at me was known for spitting and changed me twice. Once the worst was when she spit it was going down my glasses. I took off my glasses and she threw laundry detergent at me not liquid but powdered, and it scratched my cornea. But she also would fit in your mouth and she would spit all over you and you just sort of had to get used to it and not react because the more you reacted, the more shoot fit so you just got used to it and you learned not to swallow.

When I was in nursing school we had to do an enema to a confused violent patient… I was holding his arms down and he bit me. I yelled at him, “we don’t bite!” Like he was a child 😭😭

I worked with a nurse at a group home that had a bite mark scar from a behavioral client. It was 15 years later and you could still count the teeth on the scar. She said this is why we train you in these situations to push in not rip away.
