@sustainableseedling: 😂 My husband thinks gardening isn't a workout… then I find him outside doing hammer curls with our banana tree. 🍌 For the record, this is a Blue Java banana, also called the ice cream banana, because the fruit tastes like vanilla ice cream. 🥶 It's one of the more cold-tolerant bananas, which is why we're moving it from its pot into the ground. ☀️ Bananas love full sun, rich soil that drains well, and a LOT of water and compost once they're planted. 🌳 In the ground they can shoot up 15 to 20 feet, so pick a spot with room to grow. ❄️ Beginner tip: if your area gets frost, pile on a thick layer of mulch around the base to protect the roots, because the leaves may die back but it can regrow in spring. 💪 Gym membership canceled, we just garden now. 👀 Follow along to see if this thing ever gives us ice cream bananas. #bluejavabanana #icecreambanana#icecreambananaardenhumor
