I’m a divorce attorney in NJ. Every state law is different but I will say there is likely a lot more to this story if she did not get a piece of the house whatsoever. It is possible that the house had to be sold and everyone got their share..or the house had 0 equity and had to be sold w the mortgage being paid off. Either way divorce is shitty.

Not everyone can pay for an attorney to win their rights for them, also she may not even be aware of her rights under the law in this country. Unfortunately a lot of women are victims of financial abuse

There's two sides to every story. But, if she's in America, she's entitled to half of the house regardless if her name is on the title or not because she was married to him. Women have alot of rights in a divorce. But there's definitely more to the story. Never depend on a man fully. The hand that feeds you will also starve you. Thats why it's important for a woman to have her name on the house title and bank accounts.

Since the man was planning on divorcing her, he could’ve easily transferred his properties and liquid assets to a relative- unfortunately this what happens more often within the Arab community. Let’s not jump to conclusions and decide she’s lying, it’s a strong possibility that she lost everything!

Many Arab women think divorce is the worst thing to happen to them and that they should blindly trust her husband. She could have been forced to sign a post nuptial agreement just to keep her marriage. Women’s rights in the USA are there… our culture doesn’t promote them.
