@deny.defend.depose161: Replying to @SavvyT continued. We’re expected to have unlimited empathy, but that same empathy is never extended to us. So we have to protect ourselves. I don’t anticipate this will make people more empathetic, but maybe people will understand things better. It sucks but it’s the reality of capitalism and how people regard us as therapists. i think most of what you have offered is fair- i understand the logic behind it. i am not in this profession but my partner has been a CSW for the last 20 years. i can’t speak to the relationship u have w ur clients, i was purely just curious because the TYPE of clients that can maintain THAT level of consistency/ rigidity are usually those who have the privilege to: afford late fees or have a life consistent enough to always be on time. financial stress, especially in this economic climate, can compound mental health struggles. i recognize that there are additional responsibilities in private practice but… that’s a path u choose, including the policies. are there ways to apply penalties that incentivizes them being on time without adding MORE stress?

I agree with what you’re saying, it all makes sense. Though I wonder how you do that with people with unpredictable health? Considering you seem like a practice that attracts chronically ill / disabled people, how do you deal with that? I constantly have to miss meetings on incredibly short notice because my health is sooo unpredictable and I spend a lot of the time on last minute hospital trips and have days where my vitals are so bad I can’t physically wake up. The lack of flexibility in scheduling is a really large barrier for me to be able to go to therapy, insurance won’t cover the fee of a missed session. Obv I’m not saying that you shouldn’t charge no show fees, just wondering if you have any opinions / solutions for people like me who can’t access care bc of our unpredictable health

& i find it funny that u mentioned “after covid everyone is late” while wearing a mask… not mentioning how covid has caused long term symptoms of… brain fog, fatigue, chronic illness, etc.

The truth is people can’t stand a professional who is a gender and/or sexual minority who won’t be financially exploited 💜
