Jon likely doesn't have a Targaryen name. Rhaegar is obsessed with prophecy and assumed he was a girl he would name Visenya. If he has another name besides Jon, it was picked by Lyanna. But I honestly doubt that since Ned probably would have honored her choice of a Stark name.

It was some stupid attempt to try to compare. Him to Daenerys TGE PRINCE THAT WAS PROMISED. They made people think Jon was chosen or making him be able to contend with Daenerys. Daenerys is the one who was chosen, Jon has nothing.

In the books, Rheagar is a book worm and a musician as a child, until one day, he suddenly shows up in the training yard and says “it seems I must be warrior”. Which within the narrative themes and context heavily implies some sort of mysterious divine intervention. That specific moment completely changes Rhaegars future but also, the future of the entire realm. If Rhaegar never became a warrior he would have never been in tourneys, never gotten Lyannas favour, never triggered Robert’s rebellion, never siring Jon, and setting everything in motion. Rhaegar was a prophet of a higher will. Secretly naming Jon Aegon might have just been a part of this mysterious and complex prophecy. It’s kind of like an Endgame thing where there’s only 1 possible future where the good guys win.

I think it was a terrible attempt at merging the two characters which makes absolutely zero sense. I love the idea of Jon being Aemon. But I also really love the idea of him just being Jon. 🤷🏿♀️

There’s multiple scenes that are like, oh this will be really cool everyone will think it’s really cool in the later seasons, where the logic just falters away. I’d say the battle of the bastards is a big example of this it’s a really cool battle with no logic at all.
