Two things can be true. Colorism isn’t the sole reason Cardi is successful but it helps and she knows that but at the same time she’s likable and personable. Cardi transformed herself and she’s now more palatable than the girl with messed up teeth and the dusty braids so let’s be forreal her looks is apart of the same success along with her having to prove herself. It goes hand in hand when it comes to Cardi. I don’t think Mona wasn’t wrong on this take.

Maybe but Cardi definitely put in that hard work to get to where she’s at. And her personality and authenticity makes her very likable. There’s a lot of light skinned people who just don’t pop or be successful. Carly didn’t have the beauty standards as a light skin woman. You know how many ugly light skin girls there is or regular degular light skinned women and no one studying them. It’s the ones that have pretty privilege that usually get into doors based on skin color alone. And Mona know that.

people gotta stop being so uncomfortable with the topic of colorism, it’s real, especially in the entertainment industry. Saweetie, Cardi, Latto, Coi, Ice Spice, Mariah, Zendaya ALL of them benefit from colorism to some extent, it’s not an insult to acknowledge that.
