@ckay.lensview: Located just outside Morgantown, West Virginia, Coopers Rock State Forest has nearly 50 miles of hiking trails winding through beautiful woodlands and massive sandstone formations. Some trails even take you right through rocky passages that make you feel like you’ve stumbled into a hidden little world. And there’s a little history behind the name! Legend says a fugitive who was a cooper (barrel maker) hid in the area and continued making and selling barrels from his mountain hideout. The forest itself was established in 1936. Between the colorful fall leaves, towering trees and unexpected rock formations, there’s plenty to explore along the way. 🍂 Definitely a place worth taking the time to wander! 📍 Coopers Rock State Forest – West Virginia #westvirginia #coopersrock #almostheaven #statepark #leafpeeping
