You can start watching kids shows in French! That helps with learning the accent, bc you gotta hear it more n then imitate it!

As a French speaking girl I don’t really like my accent that naturally comes out. I think it just the thought of wanting to speak like the French French from France 😩 which is very annoying to hear 😒

you’re making sense! you definitely have to fake it til you make it when it comes to the accent, if you don’t practice it it won’t come. What I like to do is listen to people speak organically , ex youtube lifestyle vloggers or tv shows, and literally just mimic what they say to get the accent. I do this with spanish but still applies to any languages imo. But also most likely your american accent will always come through when speaking and that’s okay, the goal is to get as close as possible.

As a native speaker and fellow I highly recommend watching exposure so French movies/ shows they’ll help you develop a better speaking flow, pronunciation and “accent “ but it will definitely come with time. Also if you do have French speakers around you, use them. Hope this helps!

The accent is complicated because Francophones ( French speaking Africans / people) differ based on where you’re from . Youll have to practice with someone else

Keep forcing it!!! Speaking with an accent helps you recognize words when listening to a true French speaker. If you only hear those words in an American accent it’s going to be harder to discern what’s what when you’re listening to fast French. Duolingo is great- try getting workbooks, kids French books, reading short stories, etc. as well!

Honestly girl the accent is hard to develop as a French speaker my French sound very African or American sometimes. It’s best to not think too hard about how you sound it’s eventually gets easier tho

Wait hi I’m a French minor!! I also feel so weird speaking but I feel like the more you listen + speak you’ll start picking up on it, Duolingo had phonetic flash cards that can help with pronouncing common digraphs & words correctly though!
