I volunteer for the SOS bus and the national staff called us to get a wee girl from the toilets as she wasn’t well. Myself and another vol (both small women in our early 30s) were literally carrying this girl down the national club steps and a bouncer was honest to god pushing us down the stairs trying to get us out faster. Then checked inside the club to make sure we hadn’t gone into party??? Lmao while in our bright yellow tops. Again they called US to help them with the girl and still treated us and the vulnerable girl like that. Woeful behaviour

Booked & paid for a table after westlife at revolution de Cuba. 10 mins into sitting at a table a girl started trying to fight me for no reason. I excused myself & went to the bouncer for help. He didn’t want to know. While I was away she tried to bottle my two friends so the came to find me. Went back to the bouncer he said he was sick & didn’t want to deal with it. So we left to avoid getting haired wasting all the money we’d paid for the table & drink as all pre paid. ( for the record we are all in our 40s with professional jobs & were sober and literally wanted to chill & enjoy our night) I’m more disgusted at the bouncers behaviour than I am the crazy lady who started us. It was his job to make us feel safe & he couldn’t be bothered!!!!

There is a club in Belfast where the bouncers would randomly ask people to follow them, only to escort them out the fire door to a random alley for no reason! I remember it happened to me and not being from Belfast I was so disoriented despite being completely sober. Literally standing chatting with my group, nothing happened to warrant it. I stood and argued with the bouncer to let me back in and threatened to report it to the bar management as I was the responsible person getting the rest of the group home. They relented eventually but was ridiculous!

Happened to us in a hotel Derry. Man was trying to get it to our room and Security told us to stop making so much noise or we’d be thrown out

Will never forget bouncers at Laverys stopping me going into my friends, I had no phone, money etc and had to stand outside until friends came out to find me.

I remember once in Rain, when it was still Rain, a girl about 20 was TRAILED BY THE HAIR down the stairs by a male bouncer and flung into the street. all because apparently she looked too drunk but when she told the bouncer she doesn't even drink so she wasn't leaving, he didn't like it. I've seen bouncers on high street and dublin road stand and openly cat call wee girls and/or hurl abuse at them whilst they're laughing their balls off. and the amount of times I've been in a queue to see wee girls who look barely tipsy getting turned away for being too drunk whilst fellas who are stocious are allowed to run amok. it's actually turnful.

I reported sexual assault to door staff in a popular club in Belfast and was treated and spoke to like shit as if I made it up! Until I mentioned my daddy’s name as he was a doorman for many years throughout the city only then I was spoke to respectfully. Actually disgusting

I am furious about it. Not surprised at all. I’ve heard of the bouncers throwing some of my daughters friends out of clubs alone as well. Yet again shitty men using power to control girls.

theres an active psni investigation about 20 serving and 2 ex cops gor predatory behaviour and abuse. if the real police do it at this scale, can only imagine what "security companies" are at.

though I've stopped working due to ill health until two years ago I worked in and around Belfast for thirty years in bars and hospitality and whilst some Doormen were absolute salt of the earth there were plenty of clowns and scumbags. The worst of the lot tended to be around the Dublin road and Shaftesbury Square area . some of them were completely disgusting individuals who were a genuine danger to women. Lavery's and the old Elbow in particular had a reputation for having some seriously vile people front of house . I think in some cases people are better going to the bar management rather than the Doormen directly. that way the have to respond to an official instruction instead of dismissing a concerned clients requests as a "hassle or not serious " . also try to record their response if necessary. unfortunately Belfast isn't a big Gene pool so the problem won't be fixed anytime soon

On one hand they’re promoting the Ask for Angela initiative on the other hand they’re throwing young girls on to the street in the dead of night.
