Sgt is such a prestigious rank. There's so much history and value behind that differentiates a Sgt and an E-5. 30 months feels like it's so early. I've been a Cpl for 11 months and I still didn't feel like I was ready for that rank as well (moreso personal reflection).

In the army sadly you could easily make e-5 in way less than 30 months, as a Sgt you need a lot of experience

damn and i had to reenlist to get Sgt🥲 now im stuck in for another 3 years been a sgt for 1 now😭😭😭😭 definitely going to ruin the rank. anyone can wear the rank but not everyone can uphold what the rank entitles to that fast🫤

When I came in 2015 it was 24 month TIS, my Buddy picked up Sgt in 2 1/2 years TIS. Really nothing has changed IMO, some MOS picks up faster than others.

Brother look back to Jan 2020 when they made it mandatory 48 months TIS. A lot of Cpl’s couldn’t promote until 48 months. And on Jan 1 2020 the scores for a lot of MOS plummeted because a lot of cpls didn’t have 48 months TIS. And then back then, as a Cpl, if you were approved for reenlistment or had reenlisted for 4 you could be promotion eligible.

No It just ends up being a problem that now moves up the chain because now think of all the closeouts that will happen now monthly so technically if you want to become a Sgt Cpl’s will now start trying harder how I look at it

local boarding at the platoon level should be mandatory.... I used to be opposed but some of the NCO corps definitely hit the maximum potential as a lance

It’s gonna spike. The bad thing is that those who are about to start wearing that rank aren’t necessarily ready for it. Im 4+ years active and have been a Cpl for 2 years fighting to pick up.

it will balance out, all this means is it’s gonna be harder to become a snco, which is probably a good thing, when you’re a sgt you think being a sgt is a big deal, but when you get to the higher ranks you realize it’s not a huge deal so i don’t think it’s gonna matter
