@meowwityy: France sent a stray cat to space… and the world forgot her. 🐈‍⬛🚀 Félicette was a stray from the streets of Paris, one of 14 cats trained by French scientists with centrifuges, tiny boxes, and electrodes on their heads. On October 18, 1963, she launched on a rocket from the Sahara, flew about 157 km up, and was weightless for around 5 minutes. Her capsule parachuted down and a helicopter picked her up alive. The press called her "Félix." She went down in history as the first cat in space, but she got no statue until fans crowdfunded one in Strasbourg in 2019. What other animal deserves a statue? 🗿 #History #historytok #space #cats #felicette
