@dr.juliakovalenko: A few reasons why: 1. I trust my medical team. I don’t need to independently reinvent the wheel when I have knowledgeable providers who can help me make evidence-based decisions. And if you don’t feel comfortable with your care team, you deserve to seek additional opinions from qualified experts. You deserve to have your questions taken seriously, have risks and benefits explained, and feel that you’re making an informed decision. I also recognize that trust in healthcare isn’t equally straightforward for everyone. Black mothers, in particular, have faced disproportionately poor maternal health outcomes, disparities in treatment, and experiences of not being heard or taken seriously. These concerns are real, and acknowledging them means working toward better, more equitable healthcare, not dismissing people’s questions or concerns. Everyone deserves respectful, high-quality care and providers who take the time to earn their trust. 2. I want to give my baby as much protection as possible, especially heading into peak RSV and flu season. Pregnancy is an opportunity to provide some protection before babies are even old enough to receive certain vaccines themselves. 3. And perhaps most importantly, I know what I don’t know. I’m a psychologist with a strong background in research, but my ability to critically evaluate research does not make me an expert in every area of medicine. The hours I could spend reading about vaccines cannot compare to decades of research conducted by scientists, physicians, and public health experts who dedicate their careers to this work. #healthcare #healthcareworker #vaccines

Only one I won’t get is the Covid one. Got every single one. Though I haven’t been offered the rsv one yet. Only my youngest has had that one.

Not a healthcare professional, but I stopped my OB mid-vaccine spiel and literally said “You don’t need to sell me on anything. I love science and modern medicine. I trust you as the expert. Stick me with whatever you want to stick me with.” lol

When I gave birth, I remember the nurses were asking me questions about my birth plan with hesitation. I blurted out, “girls I’m a PA, I’m evidence based, get me my epidural and let’s get Miss baby out of me safe and alive. My only request is that me and and her get out of here alive”. They sighed in relief and I had an amazing delivery.

I opted out of all my vaccines just because I didn't feel like they were medically necessary for me. but remember ladies these are you children and your bodies do your research and choose what you deem is best for your babies and bodies. Either choice is completely ok and you should never be ashamed, if they weren't ok it would be illegal. Ask all the questions you have and have a safe healthy baby 💗

My mom looked at me crazy when I said no one is kissing my newborn (he’s going to be born in January) unless they’ve been vaccinated recently and even then no kissing on the face (she also doesn’t believe in vaccines)… anyways I’ve gotten my flu and Tdap vaccine next is my RSV vaccine so I get to kiss my baby all the time

Check that efficacy of them for the baby after first round. I would skip them just so they are more protected in childhood.
