@deeploneliness_: There’s something so incredibly beautiful about having that one person whose presence doesn’t feel like another responsibility when you’re already completely exhausted. Because imagine having one of those days where absolutely everything seems to go wrong. You wake up tired, spend hours dealing with responsibilities, have conversations you don’t even have the energy for, and by the time you finally get home, you genuinely don’t want to interact with another human being. Your social battery isn’t just low. It’s completely nonexistent. 😭 You don’t want to answer messages, explain how your day went, or pretend you’re in a good mood. You just want to change into comfortable clothes, crawl into bed, and forget the outside world exists for a little while. But then you think about that one person, and suddenly being alone doesn’t sound quite as comforting as having them beside you. Not because you need them to entertain you or fix everything that went wrong. You don’t even necessarily want to talk. You just want to feel their arms around you, rest your head against their chest, and exist in the same room without feeling like you have to do anything else. And honestly, that’s such an underrated form of intimacy. Because being around people usually requires some amount of energy. You have to listen, respond, pay attention, and participate in whatever’s happening. But when you find somebody who genuinely feels like home, their presence can become one of the few things that doesn’t drain you. You can sit together in complete silence, watching a movie neither of you is really paying attention to, and somehow feel more connected than you would during an entire evening of conversation. Maybe they notice you’re exhausted and quietly bring you something to eat. Maybe they pull a blanket over you when you fall asleep on the couch. Or maybe they simply lie beside you, holding your hand while you slowly let go of everything that happened during the day. And the beautiful part is that you don’t have to apologize for being quiet. You don’t have to explain why you’re not your usual energetic self. They understand that sometimes loving somebody means letting them rest without taking their silence personally. Of course, everybody needs alone time occasionally, even in the healthiest relationships. Wanting solitude doesn’t mean loving your partner any less. But there’s something special about discovering that another person’s company can feel almost as peaceful as being completely alone. Because that’s when you realize you’re not just attracted to them or excited by them. You’re comfortable with them in a way that goes beyond the butterflies and romantic gestures. They get to see the version of you that isn’t dressed up, isn’t trying to be funny, and doesn’t have anything particularly interesting to say. And somehow, they still want to be there. Because one of the deepest forms of love is finding somebody you don’t have to spend energy being around. Somebody who doesn’t make an exhausting day feel longer, but makes coming home feel like the best part of it.
