@meghannmcuniff: The Texas judge presiding over rapper Markies "Yella Beezy" Conway's murder trial ordered a witness to stop swearing in testimony today. No one in the courtroom questioned Theodore "Jose Bodega" Thomas about his possible criminal exposure when he invoked his 5th Amendment right against self incrimination last week. But someone apparently determined he faces none and thus can't plead the 5th, because he testified today and didn't invoke. (Prosecutors granted him use immunity for his testimony, as explained in another clip.) Judge Chika Anyiam interjected about seven minutes in after he said "bullshit" in response to Assistant District Attorney Tommy Adams' question. "Mr. Thomas, I'm going to have to instruct you to watch your language," Anyiam said. "I'm sorry," Thomas said. "You understand?" Anyiam asked. "I'm sorry," Thomas said. "Okay. You know what I mean, right?" Anyiam asked. "Yes, ma'am," Thomas said. "Okay. Don't use those terms. Okay?" Anyiam asked. "My bad," Thomas said. Thomas told Adams, "You tell me to talk freely." "Tell the truth," Thomas said. "Yeah. talk freely, but just don't use that language in court," the judge said. "And Mr. Thomas, if there's something that calls for like to say specifically profanity to some extent, if there's a reason that that needs to come out, I will ask the judge if it's okay for you to answer it the exact way. Is that fair?" Adams asked. "Alright," Thomas said. Thomas caught himself a couple times later in testimony and apologized. "Excuse my French," he told the judge. Thomas is an associate of Conway who collaborated on music with him. Thomas said he was in California with Conway and Conway’s uncle when he learned through social media that Noble had been killed. He testified that Kewon White called him on Instagram the night before the killing, which he said was out of the ordinary. Thomas denied knowing that Noble would be killed and disputed knowing that White committed the shooting. Adams repeatedly confronted him with previous statements made to the grand jury, which the judge instructed jurors could be considered to assess Thomas’s credibility, not Conway’s guilt. #law #crime #court
