You can tell she has a beautiful soul. Beautiful inside and out, I love her smile.

Yes. This! DEI is so insulting! She wants her school and future employers to know she earned her place through her hard work, intellect ...and that's it!

Both sides want the same thing. One side just wants it earned. That is the only legitimate difference here.

I am Mexican and I am like she is; I am smart hard working and I didn’t need affirmative action to compete my MBA with honors.

I know someone told that in HS too. And she has had such a struggle facing the reality which is only the wealthy have that privilege.

It’s disheartening when someone works hard and receives Merit Scholarships and people think they were a diversity pick.

Usually when teachers tell minorities these things, they take it as a opportunity to slack off cuz “guaranteed a spot”. Glad she pushed through and still worked hard.

I’ve been told that as well. And although I believe teachers and family mean well I think it some what down plays our intelligence. Like don’t worry if ur smart enough bc ur black enough or ur brown enough. I wanna be accepted bc I was good enough to make it in

I felt like I was a diversity candidate for the university I attended. I applied to 10 universities, and received offers and partial or full ride scholarships. I had great grades, great test scores, awesome LOR, volunteering, and internships. It was not anything above and beyond or special. Some of my classmates were exceptional and didn’t get the offers I did.

I am 4th generation American of Italian descent. class of 1985. My grades were around a 2.0. I didn't study as I should. I was rejected from every school I applied to, which was deserved and earned according to the effort I put in to work. It would be ludicrous for me to be admitted to a dream school over someone who put in the work.
