@collegelaz: This is the most EXPENSIVE mistake you could make when applying to college! #college #collegeapps #collegeadmissions #collegeadvice #earlydecision
I only applied to bu because with the amount of household income my family makes I would go tuition free with the bu promise

I applied to LMU because it genuinely is my first choice. But it’s known for being ungenerous with aid.

Spoiler: financial aid OR withdrawing from the agreement cuz you can’t afford it

This is so misleading. Majority of the time, for colleges that say they will cover demonstrated need, you can, with no concequences, back out of an ED agreement

for people saying you can back out if they don’t give you enough aid - sure, you can technically back out for any reason, it’s not a binding contract. backing out bc of finances is no different esp bc they make you check a box saying you understand the acceptance is binding regardless of the financial package they give you. if you think there’s zero consequences, consider the fact that stanford blacklisted my high school for 10 years after a girl backed out of ED. she screwed over a decade of students after her

I wish early decision was an option for the school I want to go to it’s state and only 25k of if I get in I’m going ik I won’t get aid anywhere and if it’s loans I wouldn’t want the “aid”

ED is NOT LEGALLY BINDING. It is an ethical/moral agreement, if you can’t afford it after aid you can withdraw from the contract

Gio :
That’s why I did mine with Tulane, if they don’t offer you good aid then they allow you to void the binding going ED

I applied early decision for USC. I love that school and it’s my dream school. My parents have agreed to pay for it if I get in. My grades aren’t that good so I don’t even know if I would get in anyway anyways.

Cap, u can also not decide to go ur not LEGALLY locked it's just a horrible reputation on ur previous school and they'll tend to not take any ED students in the next few years from ur school. U can also negotiate finaid aswell as back out if it isn't enough

I’m pretty sure this is wrong, you can withdraw from a school by formally telling them that you can’t afford it. This is a real reason for people who get out of EARLY DECISION

efore committing to ED, run the school's net price calculator, since a binding offer is hard to back out of if the aid falls short. search CollegeWiseOwl on the App Store
