@naehasareen: What should you look for on a probiotic label? 👇 Supplement # 7: Probiotics. Disclosure — we make one. THE THING NOBODY TELLS YOU: Probiotic benefits are strain-specific, not species-specific. Lactobacillus is the genus. L. plantarum is the species. The strain is the letters and numbers after it — and that’s the part that determines what it actually does. WHY IT MATTERS: Two strains of the same species can have completely different effects. Strain-specific meta-analyses consistently find this. One strain shows benefit for a given symptom while another from the same species shows none, which is why pooling them together produces unreliable conclusions. THIS IS WHY PEOPLE THINK PROBIOTICS DON’T WORK: Plenty of people take one, feel nothing, and conclude the category is useless. Often they took a product whose strains were never studied for what they wanted. YOUR RULE FOR ANY BRAND: Flip the bottle. Look for the letters and numbers after the species name. If they’re not there, you don’t know what you’re taking. Ours uses four named strains — La-14, Bl-04, Lp-115 and Lpc-37. Probiotics are generally safe for healthy people. Speak to your doctor if you’re immunocompromised or seriously unwell. #probiotics #guthealth #supplements #creatorsearchinsights #microbiome
