zinnias you can keep seeds and have never ending seeds, same with cosmos, sunflowers, and marigolds.

This turned out so pretty! I love making arrangements for fun, I’d recommend using a lazy Suzan cause it makes it easy to see it from all angles when putting stuff in!

pleassee soak your foam BEFORE any type of processinggggg ! if you sit a dry brick in a bucket, or large enough vase to fully submurge it will do all the work on its own, also make aure you add an extra water supply to the bottom of your vases so they have lots of water to drink!! the foam that your using (that we all use) dries very quickly so its a must to have that extra supply in the bottom !

Hey!! Beautiful!! Two tips from a florist: 1. SOAK YOUR FOAM! You can fill a sink basin and let it sit on top until it’s fully submerged. Once you cut through the foam (when wet) it should be dark green and saturated all the way through. 2nd if you start by filling the arrangement with the hydrangea as the base (stems cut a bit shorter), then filling the middle negative space with your dahlias (also with some shorter stems), and then adding your line flowers (yellow stock) at a higher horizon and lastly adding your accent flowers like the zinieas and daisy (at varying heights) you should be able to use way less flowers with the same, if not a more dramatic effect! Great job, they will look amazing 🤩

I struggle growing flowers. I’m in the Bay Area California. Do you grow your flowers from seed directly outside or do you have to germinate them inside? If put seeds in my soil I probably get one out of dozens that I put down. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Gorgeous! Like everyone’s said soak the foam first and the flowers will last longer and it’ll push through easier. Next project should be trying it with just chicken wire! Take a piece of wire and ball it up to fit in the vase. It’ll be a little loose in the beginning but the more flowers you add the more sturdy it will get. My floral teacher always told me arrangements should be 1-1.5 times the height of your vase. So if your vase is 6” tall your arrangement should be 12”-15” tall but remember if you have a taller vase on the table the people sitting might not be able to see the others sitting across from them. Low arrangements sprawling across the center of the table are stunning!!! Maybe try one of those too!! I love doing wide arrangements in shallow vessels. Also you can dry those hydrangea blooms and they’ll stay that color and be able to make arrangements out of them this year or next. I’ve had 3 vases sittin in the house with different colored hydrangeas for two years now. I absolutely love them!

How do you get your dahlias to have strong stems so the heaviness of the flower doesn’t make them snap?
