At 12:36 a.m. on May 21, his phone sends a contact saved as Mama Lynn: "If you have any questions, please text me or call me. Is Sophie okay?" At 12:41 a.m. the answer comes back: "She's getting x-rays and lines put in, and there are about five people working on her." Asked whether Cooper responded, the examiner says: "There is none recorded." A minute later Mama Lynn texts again: "are you home safely?" Prosecutors allege Cooper Ouellette caused Sophie R.'s death on May 20, 2023. The State has to prove every charge beyond a reasonable doubt.
