@timeless.mysteries6: John Goodman Admits He Did Not Want to Make The Flintstones, but Says He Still Had Fun John Goodman, 74, is looking back on playing Fred Flintstone in the 1994 live-action movie. On the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, he was honest about how he felt at the time. “It’s not something I really wanted to do at the time,” he said. He added, “I’m ashamed to say that. I should have been very grateful, but it just scared me.” But the story does not end there. “I did have fun,” Goodman said. He says he loved working with Rick Moranis, Rosie O’Donnell, and Liz Perkins. “We had a good time,” he said. He also said he wishes he had been “a little more grateful.” In a 2025 interview with PEOPLE, he talked about another costar, Elizabeth Taylor. She played Wilma Flintstone’s mom, Pearl Slaghoople. Goodman said Taylor took a fall during filming. While the cast squatted around her, he got her talking about Richard Burton. “There’s old-school movie stars and then there’s Elizabeth Taylor,” he said. “I never thought I’d ever get to meet her.” Which movie role would you have turned down? #JohnGoodman #TheFlint John Goodman Admits He Did Not Want to Make The Flintstones, but Says He Still Had Fun John Goodman, 74, is looking back on playing Fred Flintstone in the 1994 live-action movie.
