My neighborhood is mostly boomers with a few young families sprinkled in. We tried for three years to trick or treat and only five houses, including ours, gave out candy. This year we went to a friend's neighborhood and their area was full of kids. it's hard to build up a community when there are no kids or families around

Do you want GenX to teach you how to be invisible? We can probably work something out. Maybe you can destroy an industry for us, and we let you borrow the invisibility in return?

It isn't trunk or treats or even the pandemic it is about your neighbor. Last year I moved into a new community. I was one of the first people to move in and we had like half a dozen kids. This year however it is mostly finished and there are a lot of kids in the community now. I ran out of Halloween candy and had to put out my old man sugar free candy and protein bars and buy the end of the night that was all gone.
it was busy because we have more kids around you can't live in a place with free families and be upset that kids didn't come around to trick or treat

I’ve lived in 3 neighborhoods over the past 20 years and I’ve had about 10 trick or treaters and that was in the first neighborhood the first couple of years. Were you all even having kids then????

I live in a small town in the Midwest that goes so fucking hard for Halloween it's crazy. It rained this year. Still had at least a hundred trick or treaters. Town is about 11,000 people.

Depends where you are, we went out with my in-laws in their neighborhood and there were hundreds of people out trick or treating.

It is about the neighborhood. If you live in a neighborhood full of boomers and the elderly, you aren't going to have a lot of kids.

Why have we always been blamed for everything?! They blamed us for the 08 recession. Majority of us hadn’t even graduated high school and the rest were still getting degrees. The generations before us think we are still teens and early 20s and the younger generations thing we are retiring age. It’s exhausting.

It all depends on the year. Last year, we had a “surge” after 9:00 of the older kids, this year we had ONE kid come by. I left the candy out and light on until 11:00. There are neighborhoods that put together a big deal and that’s where the kids go. Wanna bet those are millenials putting those houses together?

Nobody is having kids! If you want kids in your neighborhood to trick or treat, have children not just a dog in a costume.
