In Screen Actors Guild, Inc. v. Cory (1979), a California appellate court ruled against SAG, rejecting its attempt to retain certain unclaimed residuals rather than turn them over to the California State Controller. I am now investigating whether SAG-AFTRA’s current practices comply with California law, particularly regarding unclaimed residuals reported as union revenue.
