@mundi_jesse: When praying for a mad man, never close your eyes. ~ African Proverb --- There was a famous Pastor in a village who was known for his powerful prayers. People said when he prayed, even the sick got up. One day, the elders brought a young man to him. The young man was very strong but had been mad for two years. He would shout, throw stones, and run in the bush. The Pastor said, "Bring him to the church, I will pray for him and God will heal him." They tied the mad man with ropes and brought him to the altar. The whole village gathered. The Pastor told everyone, "All of you close your eyes, bow your heads, and let's pray with faith. We must show we believe." Everyone closed their eyes tightly. The Pastor also closed his eyes and started praying very loudly, "In the name of Jesus, I command you..." While everyone's eyes were closed, the mad man quietly struggled and loosened one rope on his hand. He looked around. Everyone's eyes were closed. The Pastor was shouting with his eyes closed. He picked up the Pastor's heavy wooden Bible that was on the table. The old choir leader who was sitting in the corner opened one eye slightly. He was the only one who remembered what the old people say: _When praying for a mad man, never close your eyes._ He shouted, "PASTOR, OPEN YOUR EYES!" The Pastor opened his eyes just in time and jumped away. The Bible landed where his head was. The mad man then calmed down and ran out of the church. Later, they caught him again, but this time, they prayed with their eyes open, holding him firmly and safely. Moral Lesson: Faith does not mean foolishness. Helping people is good. Trusting God is good. But wisdom is also needed. Do not be so spiritual that you forget to be careful. Love people, help people, pray for people - but keep your eyes open. The proverb doesn't say don't pray for the mad man. It says pray - but don't close your eyes. You can be kind and still be wise. You can trust God and still lock your door.
