@the.australian: A Melbourne Cup day hike to 4.85 per cent has added fresh pressure on the Albanese government to rein in spending. Follow live at the link in our bio.
And Cole’s and Woolworths will increase their prices no doubt.

We already are in a recession. They are trying to hide it and using the interest rate hikes to try and make back some money but it’s not working.

Government spending is already at record levels, yet instead of cutting unnecessary expenditure and getting their own finances under control, they keep putting more pressure on taxpayers. Seriously, what a ridiculous way to run a country! 🤦♂️

The price of oil effects everything. Goods moving via road/ships, food produced on farms, people driving vehicles for work. The government COULD reduce fuel prices immediately if they wanted. Removing the fuel excise completely, and pausing the gst component, would reduce fuel prices by 70-80¢ /L. Or about 25%. Inflation would be stopped in its tracks.
