As a Cuban, I had to cut ties with my in laws due to my FIL not respecting boundaries and forcing my daughter to sit on his lap. After YEARS of setting these boundaries.. my daughter came to her father and me that my FIL was asking her “let’s hold hands and pretend to be BF and GF” and he was also rubbing her thighs. He admitted to it all, but refused to speak with the detectives when it was reported. Their excuse was “we are Cuban, that’s how we show love.”

I know I am going to get backlash…But I find it normal I kiss my mother on the lips and also my cousins and my mami or tias would grab or slap my but out of affection we still do it to one another …..Now does my papi do it to me or I him? Absolutely Not do I kiss my tíos on the lips? No……But certain cousins that are male I still kiss on lips…..In a Puerto Rican household the first boy is a mamas boy prince and he is smothered in affection and yes it might be overboard and half disfunctional to the outsiders but it’s crazy normal to a family that from day one done this…
