Tennessee v Garner also refers to an officer perceiving a suspect as armed and dangerous while being an imminent threat to the officer or other people in the community. The fact that he had a gun and was discharging it multiple times plays a huge role. Don’t fire your gun if you’re not ready for the consequences that comes with it

we went to Memphis for the 4th and I thought it was beautiful, no violence,no nothing but fireworks downtown and people being neighbors ...im sorry for this family but hte video I see does not look like in the air ... it was more in front of him.

Maybe the Guardsmen weren’t in imminent danger, but, the fact that the suspect was unlawfully and randomly firing a weapon with in city limits, and then ran while still in possession of the firearm, he was an imminent threat to the public, so as sad as it is going to sound, this is likely going to be justified unfortunately. There may be a civil suite for wrongful death, but, they were in performance of their duties, so the federal government will make sure they have the best representation.

I don’t care if he did shoot in the air, and had a hand gun. He was running away not facing anyone. There have been several people with weapons facing the law some were shot and if were a different race weren’t shot. He did not shoot at them…. Yall in the comments are horrible. 😡

The media will just lie to your face. That wasn’t shooting in the air. He was pointing it horizontally to the ground. Second Tenn v Garner states a hell of a lot more than just officer being in danger. You people are disingenuous as it gets. Terrible terrible journalism if you can call it that.
