Ok, you have to admit… the timing was pretty magical 👀🐻❤️ And the fact it happened the week Dolly left us… well, it was healing for me, personally. 🩹❤️‍🩹 And yes, fine, the bear probably didn’t turn around because she liked the newer song better… it was probably because she was waiting on her cub to arrive 😅😳 For context, I was singing Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” when this bear crossed the road in front of my car. Then I switched to “Tennessee Mountain Home,” and suddenly she turned around and watched me. A moment later, her cub appeared, and the two engaged in a delightful little game of play right there while I watched. It was beautiful. It gave me some joy. 🥹 Was she actually listening to Dolly? Almost certainly not. 😂 But I think I’m allowed to enjoy the coincidence. This was one of those completely unexpected Great Smoky Mountains bear moments that I’ll keep with me. Just because of the timing of it all. ⚠️ And just to be absolutely clear: I stayed inside my vehicle the entire time and did not approach, follow, feed, or intentionally attract the bear. Please never approach or allow a bear to approach you. The National Park Service recommends staying at least 50 yards (150 feet) away from bears. 🐻 Sometimes the best Smoky Mountain nature moments are the ones you could never have planned.
