The TRUTH
Loreto Javar, a 76-year-old lawful permanent resident (green card holder) from the Philippines who has lived in the U.S. since 1995, was arrested by ICE during what he expected to be a routine U.S. citizenship interview. ICE detained him on allegations that he failed to disclose a 1970s criminal conviction from the Philippines on his initial visa application decades prior. While held for over two months at the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma, Washington, his family and lawyers fought for his release, noting that his detention severely interrupted his treatments for stage 4 prostate cancer. He was finally released on his own recognizance to resume medical treatments, though his deportation case remains ongoing.
WHAT LESSON DID WE LEARN?
Don't LIE TO THE US FEDERAL GOVT WHEN FILLING OUT YOUR PAPERWORK..
ICE DID THEIR JOB, GREAT JOB GUYS.
