@anarghyakeshav36: i'm not saying he was at fault, and i'm not trying to discredit him. i'm saying it's unfair to automatically blame her while praising him. she was only 20, and he was 55 with significantly more experience, yet people are questioning HER competence without knowing the full circumstances. both pilots deserve fairness and respect. this isn't about men vs. women, it's about the double standard. #aviation #feminism #pilots
who said the pilot was being praised? there is so little information that we have right now. for all we know, the pilot failed to communicate because he knew it was over

20-years-old, female, screaming at the end... not very professional as a pilot. big difference between capt sully and this girl...

I believe that the pilot was not at the copit because a experienced pilot would know how to handle icing and how to elevate that plane correctly in a ice and stormy condition and recover from a stall that was avoidable.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree on one facet of this. I've seen zero content praising the captain. If anything, I've seen him exclusively being maligned for "giving up," which is a narrative that's sadly gaining traction. I mean I may be wrong & that may just be the way my algorithm has been skewed. Regardless, I really wish the people rightly defending her would stop with this unfair, baseless slandering. But yes, all of the criticism I've seen of her is just blatant, not-so-thinly veiled misogyny. They both acted heroically. And from everything I've read, she was a talented, bright aviator whose life & career were cut so tragically short.

Another opinion I have: The crew had already confirmed they were battling icing on the wings at 30,000 feet. Extreme turbulence. Then precipitation that almost assuredly froze within mere seconds at the speed of the aircraft and the recorded -52 degrees in the atmosphere at that height. The request should have been to lower altitude. Clear the turbulence, the precipitation, and gain higher atmospheric temperature. With the climb, the only guarantee you had was getting above the turbulence. You still had the accumulated ice and additional ice from the precipitation with most likely lower extreme temperatures. That spells disaster. Added icing produced added weight. It also could very well have frozen critical parts on the tail and wings needed to keep the jet from plunging out of control. The no-fly zone around Mar-a-Lago is 2,000 feet when the President is not there and 17,999 when he is. The jet could have requested permission to drop to 20,000 feet for a brief time.

I saw a comment where someone said it was her job to make sure the pilot/captain didn’t put the plane in a bad position. Um is that also not HIS job as well??? What are we even doing right now.

So even if the PILOT was a seasoned veteran he knew better than to fly near the thunder storm. Just like the helicopter pilot flying the guy and his daughter in the fog and died.

I think the issue is, she was screaming on the recording, which doesn’t help anybody. I’m not saying that she shouldn’t or I wouldn’t, but that’s what people have all heard and as humans unfortunately we make judgments

I believe he was praying because he already knew the outcome. No matter what he could have tried to do, the end result would have been the same. And she was holding on to hope. Didn’t want to give up. It’s what she needed in that moment. She wanted to go down fighting and she did. Both ways can be right even if they are different. Who are we to judge how they chose to spend their last moments….all we should do is pray and send positive vibes to the family and friends of those lives that were lost. Stop pointing fingers, won’t solve a thing.

Tbh, I think the investigation will show the Captain made some very bad judgement calls to put them into that position in the first place.

This was obviously pilot error both the Captain and First Officer were responsible for monitoring and checking weather forecasts and conditions. They should have known before departure that there was or could be convective weather conditions in route

If this was pilot error from a thunderstorm it was 51% his fault and 49% hers. It’s just as much her responsibility to stay out of weather as his.

I listened to the recording and thought how professional and clear she was talking to the tower knowing she was going to crash. May god rest her soul.

Apparently he was pilot in command and she was monitoring. Her job is to communicate between pilot and ATC

They’re all dead in any case. Flying a small plane into weather is hubris. How many people have died because they chose to fly into weather?

In almost every incident, the pilot screams, yells, or curses before the crash. Let’s consider this: by the time she was screaming and acting “unprofessionally,” they were descending at tens of thousands of feet per minute. There was no way to recover from that. She knew it was her final moments. Who’s to blame her for being terrified when we all would?

Thunderstorm updraft was 15000 ft in minutes. Very little could be done. Icing, poor visibility for attitude control, and violent updrafts.
