@dailyplug9ja: Here’s everything that happened in Nigeria in the last 12 hours. Bandits ambushed a bus carrying police officers along the Sokoto–Gusau road in Zamfara, killing some officers and reportedly abducting others travelling to provide security for an APC primary election. Gunmen abducted six mourners travelling from Kano with a woman’s corpse to Okpoga, Benue State, abandoning the body and reportedly demanding fifteen million naira for the victims’ release. A twenty-six-year-old man, Ifeanyi Chukwu Joseph, was arrested in Owerri after police said he allegedly pushed seventeen-year-old Chiamaka Chukwuokore from a two-storey building, leaving her critically injured. Nigeria’s Super Falcons have begun receiving the naira equivalent of President Tinubu’s one-hundred-thousand-dollar reward for winning the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, while technical staff receive fifty-thousand dollars each. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and Australian Federal Police signed an agreement to share intelligence, conduct joint operations and use controlled drug deliveries to disrupt trafficking networks along the Nigeria-Australia route. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control says the ten-billion-naira emergency health fund covers Ebola and other epidemic-prone diseases, but represents only about two per cent of Nigeria’s annual health-security needs. President Bola Tinubu congratulated Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar on his twentieth anniversary on the throne, praising the monarch’s humility, courage and contributions to Nigeria’s unity since becoming Sultan of Sokoto. President Tinubu’s aide dismissed claims that his Umrah pilgrimage was aimed at winning northern votes ahead of the 2027 election, saying the trip should not be reduced to political calculations. Labour tensions are deepening as the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress remain divided over the proposed seventy-thousand-naira transport allowance and fresh minimum-wage negotiations. Dangote Group is exploring industrial expansion in Egypt after an Egyptian delegation visited its Lagos complex to identify investment opportunities, potentially broadening the conglomerate’s operations beyond Nigeria. The National Assembly is considering seventy-four additional special seats for women in the Senate and House of Representatives, with Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele expressing confidence that state assemblies will approve the proposal. #nigerianews #breakingnews #newsupdate #breakingnews #news
