@htxnewsfeed: AMAZON DELIVERY DRIVER SPEAKS OUT AFTER VEHICLE HIT BY GUNFIRE: An Amazon delivery driver who came under gunfire Sunday while delivering a package on Presley Street has reached out directly to HTX News to share her account of what happened. The driver, who asked to remain anonymous because the suspected shooter has not been captured, told HTX News that the suspect fired seven shots at her vehicle while she was making the delivery. She was not struck by the gunfire and is thankful that she is OK. The driver described the experience as extremely scary and wanted to warn other delivery drivers about the dangers they can face while working. According to HPD Lieutenant Chris Kelly, officers received a shooting-in-progress call at approximately 11:44 a.m. Officers arrived shortly afterward and learned the delivery driver had heard gunshots while placing an Amazon package. When she turned around, she discovered that her vehicle had been struck multiple times by gunfire. The driver was able to locate the suspected shooter inside the property. The suspect briefly spoke with her before retreating back inside the house. Officers established a perimeter and waited for SWAT to arrive. However, HPD says they believe the suspect was able to break the perimeter and escape, and officers were unable to locate him. The driver told HTX News she wanted to stress how dangerous delivery work can become and offered a warning to other delivery drivers: Be careful. Stay alert. Stay safe. The suspect remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing. HTX News is withholding the driver's identity at her request for her safety.
