A tattooed muslim here, both my grandmothers used to have tattoos, it’s cultural, so I knew I would be getting tattoos as an adult. The only Hadith about tattoos wasn’t convincing enough, in fact a lot of things we were taught young do not make sense when you reflect on, especially in the Sunna. Allah wouldn’t give all of us brains for us to not use. Questioning things is Allah’s gift to us.

from what I know, tattoos are permanent ink on the skin, cant wash off so wudhu isnt valid. I think of it similarly to nails, lashes, etc, except theyre temporary. if people want to do it they have free will of course! I dont think its permissible though especially if someone wants valid wudhu. that being said, like ak, being disgusted or outraged over people with tattoos is crazy. never this attitude towards honor killings, zina, drinking, etc.

I’m literally covered in them. Our bodies are going to rot one day the only thing that will live on is our inner selves. It doesn’t effect your wudhu it really isn’t different to dying your hair or getting a nose or ear piercing.
