They probably didn’t want to scare kids off with her since the s/m anime had a more laid back slice of life kinda vibe. she was very intense for a game meant for kids, they weren’t even that upfront with ghetsis treatment of N in b/w as they were with lusamine towards lillie and gladion

Game Lusamine is driven by grief, mind corruption and Nihilego's neurotoxin. Other than that, she still loved her children, even if she was unable to show that love at all. I think Lusamine in the anime is less traumatised by Nihilego and Mohn's disappearance, but you can still depict her as a bad mother for how she treats Lillie for example

it was a good alternative, instead of being a psychopath who hated her children she was overbearing mother who loved what she -thought- of her children, both lusamine have the same problem of neglecting her children for completely different reasons

like ik they had to make her more kid friendly bc the anime is more directed at children and game lusamine was really intense, but it just makes me wish we got another pokemon anime that was geared towards adults. closes we got was the short evolutions series a few years back

Anime Lusamine isn’t as evil as games Lusamine, but she is still a kinda bad parent since she basically neglected her kids for so long, even though she truly loves them. Also in the episode where Faba steals Cosmog and opens up a wormhole and Nihilego comes through, you can see a part of game Lusamine come out, that obsession she had. But unlike game Lusamine, she chooses her family over the Ultra Beasts.

I’m glad they didn’t do the same to the manga at least, I think she felt a little bit more terrifying if you consider Lille’s ptsd in the manga, poor girl was traumatized. (I felt like the closure for luminescence there looked the same as the og sun and moon game)

Like they were ok with the end of the world in XY but not a neglecting, terrible mother who has a fixation on the ultra beast. Like I understand they wanted to tone it down, but she should’ve been the main villain in some way even though later in the games she gets some kind of redemption arc, but it seemed really stupid for her to just be like a problem in season two and that’s it. Like I really wanted them to go further deeper into her character rather than change it. Sun and moon is my favorite, but I feel like they could’ve done better with it too🫩
