What her MIL did to the dog after he got away (twice) is UNIMAGINABLE. I’d really be struggling with this if I were Michelle. I can completely sympathize with the fact that continuously reporting her MIL to animal control or her local humane society would cause massive family conflict… AND personally, I couldn’t stand by and watch innocent animals be treated this way. Maybe I’m wrong! I’m not in ANY WAY telling Michelle what to do. I’m saying this would suck for me (and my husband) cause I’d have to call it in (again and again) if this were my situation. Michelle, you’re being very generous offering to host. There’s nothing more you need to do. I don’t think your husband’s family will ever understand or agree with your boundary. So if you’re trying for that… I’d save my energy. What did we miss, guys? I know this is a heavy one. I just feel so bad for those animals. And what a terrible situation for someone who literally works in the animal field to be paired with a MIL who doesn’t properly care for the animals she brings in. Even if, in her mind, she’s got the best intentions, she may not have the capacity to see the greater impact of her choices. PSA - The story was shared by one of you for educational and reflective purposes only. Any advice I share is what I would do personally if I were in this situation. These are my opinions and they do not replace advice or treatment from licensed professionals. #boundaries #mil #thanksgiving #animalrescue #storytime
