@mascul.christianity: Catholic students carried a massive five-meter red cross through the streets of Jakarta on October 28 during the “Indonesia Sadar” demonstrations. Members of the Indonesian Catholic Students Association (PMKRI) marched with the striking Christian symbol as thousands gathered near Bundaran HI. For Christians, the image of young Catholics publicly carrying the Cross through the heart of Indonesia’s capital was especially powerful. PMKRI explained that the red cross represented solidarity with people suffering injustice, particularly Indigenous communities in South Papua whose ancestral lands and forests are under threat. Although the demonstration itself was focused on social, environmental and political concerns, the Cross remained at the center of one of its most memorable scenes - carried openly through the streets by Catholic students as a visible symbol of sacrifice, solidarity and hope.
