Must be nice…yeah I enjoyed dropping my kids off at 0400 in the morning and doing PT…must be nice when I deployed and my youngest didn’t know who I was when I came back..I’ll enjoy all I have now from the government.

My dad did 20 years in the Marine Corps. 2 tours in Vietnam. I saw him retire at 38. He didnt have to work. I wanted that. i didnt comprehend the cost.until I got medically retired at 36 years old. I never heard my dad complain about his failing health and constant pain. I didnt even know how fucked up he was until he started spending more and more time in a hospital bed. He died at 65. Yeah, I'd say he earned those benefits, and then some

got asked a question today I wasn't prepared for, at my heart doctor in the waiting room, I was talking to a guy about my lungs, heart, not sleeping, anger problems, my limp, cognitive impairment. this lady says "what happened to you, how did you get so messed up. I drew a blank stare and the old fella beside me just looked at the lady and shook his head. she got called back and this ole boy says "son, I understand the man that lives in your head." then I saw the Vietnam hat on his head. "they don't understand us son". don't remember his name because of a recent stroke, but he's a hell of an ole boy. yeah, it sure is nice.
