I actually had to take blame for a shave down today. The comb popped off the blade and I took a 30 blade all the way down the middle of the back. OMG!!!!

I felt deep shame I needed my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (why does that breed have 4 names and long hair??). My client died and her family gave me the dog. I had no idea she needed more than we gave her!! I felt stupid and a lot of guilt when she came back shaved.

Truth! Happened to me once bc I didn’t know that I needed to completely dry her. She has trickier fur than my last dog of the same breed. Never again. That dog is dry when I wash her between grooms. I felt horrible that she had to be shaved. Not my groomer’s fault. He worked hard to keep her fur but I let her get matted.

I’m 100% ok with that. It takes his fluff 2 missed brushing and my doodle is a matted mess. Shave him down. we will try again 😂 he’s too active and his hair is the wooly kinda doodle not the silky kind 😔.

And almost EVERY dog with longer hair can get mats!! I keep my Cavaliers long & they get matted behind their ears constantly but I brush it out every other day.

We have a Shih Tzu mix that has had to be shaved way too many times in his 14 years (any amount is too many to me). I blame my husband who promised to keep up with the grooming, though. 100% his fault. 😆
