@unlocking.the.myst: SPIKE LEE SAYS HE HOPES THE KNICKS DO NOT VISIT THE TRUMP WHITE HOUSE: “HE CAN’T FORCE THEM” Spike Lee Says He Hopes the Knicks Do Not Visit the Trump White House: “He Can’t Force Them” Knicks superfan Spike Lee does not want the defending NBA champions to visit the White House. Owner James Dolan, a longtime Trump supporter, said in June that he had already accepted an invite. “I’m very proud to bring the team to the White House,” he said. He called the president “a friend” he has known for 30 years. Lee disagrees. “He wants his team to go to the White House,” he told Variety. “He can’t force them! It’s been years since the last NBA team has gone. They’re not going. I hope they don’t go!” In September, head coach Mike Brown said the organization is still “internally discussing” whether to make the trip. Lee also pointed to Trump’s visit to Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals, where he sat next to Dolan. It was the Knicks’ only loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the series. Lee said it is “not just an accident” that the team’s 13-game winning streak ended that night. He also said Dolan is the reason Ben Stiller is making an HBO Knicks documentary instead of him. “Dolan gave it to him,” Lee said. “It’s his team, he can do what he wants to do.” EW has reached out to the White House and the Knicks for comment.
