Part 3! I’m transforming a small hallway into a cottagecore craft station — and this is Part 3 of the DIY makeover, all happening before Christmas 🎄 This episode focuses on the hands-on DIY builds that turn a pretty space into a functional one, including an IKEA stool hack and a custom wood shelf installation. ✨ What I worked on in this video: • DIY upholstered stool seats using a basic IKEA stool base • Step-by-step process for cutting a pine board seat top • Cutting and attaching one-inch foam and fabric for upholstery • Securing the upholstered seat to the stool for a clean finish • Installing a wall-mounted wood shelf anchored into wall studs • Drilling pilot holes, leveling, and securing with construction screws • Designing a shelf that can be changed later (no permanent glue) For the stools, I took inspiration from an IKEA stool and used a ChatGPT mockup to visualize the finished look before building. I cut a piece of 1×3 pine board for the seat top, added foam cut slightly larger for softness, and wrapped everything in fabric that was stapled tightly to the underside. Once the stool base was assembled, I attached the upholstered top using four screws — a simple DIY upgrade that makes budget furniture feel custom and cozy. Next, I moved on to installing the wood shelf. I located the wall studs, marked them clearly, transferred the marks to the wood using painter’s tape, and drilled pilot holes before securing the shelf base into the studs. After checking that everything was level, I added the top shelf using two-inch construction screws. If this were a permanent installation, I would add wood glue between the boards, but I chose not to so the space can evolve over time. This makeover is all about creating a warm, cottagecore-inspired craft space that’s practical for everyday use — a place for crafting, wrapping gifts, and creative projects throughout the winter. Up next is Part 4, where I finish assembling the desk, add wooden knobs to the wall shelf, and start styling the space with decor — the most fun part of the transformation. Follow along to see the full before-and-after cottagecore craft station makeover and save this video if you’re planning your own IKEA hacks, DIY furniture upgrades, or small-space home projects. #cottagecoreaesthetic #cottagecore #homediy #diyproject #crafting
