I read reviews and watched videos about this hotel before booking, so I honestly thought it would be okay. Unfortunately, our actual experience was very different from what I expected. The room had a really unpleasant smell, there were cockroaches, and the bathroom was dirty. It was definitely not the kind of accommodation experience we were hoping for during our Taiwan trip. To be fair, the hotel staff were kind and accommodating. We informed them that we had decided to transfer to another hotel because we were uncomfortable staying in the room. We appreciated their kindness, but unfortunately, the condition of the room was still a major concern for us. We booked Modern Plaza Hotel for only ₱1,300 per night because it was affordable and conveniently located near an MRT station. We wanted to save money on accommodation and spend more on exploring Taiwan, so we decided to give it a try. However, this experience reminded me that a low price and good location are not always enough when choosing a hotel. Even if you read reviews and watch videos online, the actual condition of the room may still be different from what you expect. For me, cleanliness, comfort, and a pleasant smell are basic things I look for in any accommodation, regardless of the price.
