@itsospooky: The California Redwood Forest That Pulls Water From the Clouds Deep along California’s northern coast, ancient redwood forests possess an extraordinary ability to capture water directly from the fog. Some of these towering coast redwoods have stood for more than 2,000 years, surviving fires, storms, droughts, and centuries of environmental change. During the dry summer months, coastal fog drifts through their enormous branches, collecting on needles and falling to the forest floor as droplets of water. Scientists call this phenomenon fog drip. Researchers have also discovered that redwoods can absorb moisture directly through their leaves, helping these magnificent trees survive when rainfall is scarce. But the most beautiful part of this natural phenomenon is what happens beneath the trees. As moisture falls from the towering redwood canopy, it helps sustain the ferns, mosses, and smaller plants growing in their shadows. These ancient giants are not simply surviving. They’re helping support an entire ecosystem. California’s coastal redwood forests offer a remarkable reminder that even the strongest living things depend on the world around them, and that what sustains one life can help sustain countless others. Sometimes nature’s greatest lessons about resilience, generosity, and connection are found in the quietest places. #RedwoodForest #CaliforniaRedwoods #NatureFacts #creatorsearchinsights #redwoodforestcalifornia
