When to speak, when to stay quiet, and how my words affect the people around me. Sometimes I can speak out of anger, frustration, pride, or emotion and realize afterward that I said something I cannot take back. Scripture says, “Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity.” Proverbs 21:23. That reminds me that self-control should reach my mouth too. Being sensible means I don’t have to respond to everything. I don’t have to prove myself in every argument, answer every insult, or say everything that comes to my mind. Sometimes silence is wisdom. Sometimes walking away is stronger than having the last word. I can pause before I speak and ask myself, Is this true? Is it necessary? Is it loving? Will these words bring peace or make the situation worse? I also have to be careful because words can reveal what is happening inside my heart. Jesus said, “For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” Matthew 12:34. If anger, pride, bitterness, or jealousy are constantly coming out of my mouth, I cannot simply blame everyone else. I need to let Christ work on what is inside me. I want my words to reflect the person God is teaching me to become. That doesn’t mean I should be afraid to speak the truth. There are times when I need to stand up, correct something, set a boundary, or defend what is right. But I can do those things without being disrespectful or cruel. I can be firm without being hateful. I can disagree without attacking someone’s character. I can tell the truth without using the truth as an excuse to hurt somebody. “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” James 1:19. I want to live that way. Before I speak, I want to listen. Before I react, I want to think. Before I answer in anger, I want to pray. My mouth is something God has given me, and I don’t want to use it to destroy what I should be building. I don’t need the last word, I need the right heart. May God give me wisdom to know when to speak, humility to know when to listen, and self-control to make sure my words reflect Christ. I Pray For you In Jesus Mighty Name Amen #christiantiktok #christianity #jesuslives #jesustiktok #jesusismysavior
